NEW PROGRAM!
READING BUDDIES
Students in grade K-5 who need assistance with reading, are paired with a Teen Buddy who reads along with them. They also participate in other fun literacy activities during the 60 minute program is on Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Please fill out and return your application.
All K-5 students may apply by filling out this application.
WANTED TEEN VOLUNTEER READING BUDDIES!
- Teen Buddies receive community service volunteer hours. (Three per session)
- Must have a 3.0 (B) Grade Point Average
- Letter of reference
- Attend a mandatory training session on a Thursday night

Palm Spring Public Library WINS
Read for the Record 2023 for
Mid-Size Municipality!
The Village of Palm Springs wins its 4th time in a row for Mid-Size Municipality Read for the Record! Staff continues to work hard and go the extra mile to increase awareness about the importance of early literacy. A BIG Thank you to Council and Staff Members who participated in this year's event. We could not have done it without everyone's support and promoting literacy. Thank you to Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County and the Palm Beach County League of Cities for recognizing our efforts in promoting and reading to our local children.

City Government Week 2023
In celebration of Florida City Government Week, the Village of Palm Springs invited St. Luke Catholic School, to tour the Village and its departments. Meeting the Village Mayor, Councilmembers, Village Manager and Department Directors. The students had a great time with the department leaders while learning each department responsibilities and how they play a big part for the Village of Palm Springs community to continue functioning smoothly for the welfare of the citizens. This is the second time Palm Springs invites middle school students for a tour, celebrating Florida City Government Week of Florida League of Cities. A BIG thank you to all who were involved, Village Council, Palm Springs Police Dept. and staff for educating our local students and future leaders.

The Village of Palm Springs Awards
Joseph L. Fallon Scholarship 2023
The Village of Palm Springs Awards the Joseph L. Fallon Scholarships to six recent high school graduates on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, during the regular Council Meeting. All Students received a "Congratulations" yard sign to be placed in front of their homes recognizing their dedication and hard work. Each student was awarded a $1,000.00 dollar scholarship and had their picture taken with Village of Palm Springs Mayor, Bev Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Fallon, and Palm Springs Public Library Director, Jossie Maliska. This year's recipients are Chimdindu F. Ejidike from, Forest Hill Community High School, Colin D. Coppin from Atlantic High School, Valeria Estrada from G-Star High School of the Arts, Aarnav Gautam from Suncoast High School, Meybelyn C. Bauza from John I. Leonard High School, and Brando Santana from John I. Leonard High School. Again, we congratulate these students and their achievements.

Bookmark Contest Winners 2023
Village of Palm Springs Public Library hosted its Annual Bookmark Contest on May 25th, 2023, with 12 winners from local schools. This years' theme was "There is more to the story of the Library of Palm Springs" students created beautiful artwork. Council member Gary Ready was part of this ceremony and was delighted to join us and take pictures with the awarded recipients. This tradition has been going on at Palm Springs Public Library for over 38 years now. A big thank you to our local schools and families for participating.

The library is introducing The Palace Project app (“Palace”) that makes accessing the library’s ebook and audiobook collections easier than ever. Palace brings together all of the library’s ebook and audiobook collections into one simple app, where users can search and browse, check out items, and read, in just a few taps. The Palace app is available now to all Palm springs Library patrons from the Apple Store and for Android from the Google Playstore.

Bookmark Contest Winners 2022Village of Palm Springs hosted its Annual Bookmark Contest on April 26th, 2022, with 26 contest recipients from our local schools. This years' theme was "Ocean's of Possibilities" students created such beautiful artwork. Mayor Bev Smith was part of this ceremony presenting the students with their awards. This tradition has been going on at Palm Springs Public Library for over 30 years our local schools and families really love this contest. Congratulations to all winners!

The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County awarded the Village the “Read for the Record Palm Beach County 2021 - Mid-Size Municipality” award! This year staff worked extra hard to increase awareness about the importance of early literacy and it payed off. Staff read in person and the engaging video was a hit! Palm Springs Staff was very excited and proud that our video brought so much joy and thrill to so many people. Kristen Calder, CEO of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County presented the award to Mayor Bev Smith, Village Manager Kim Glas-Castro, Councilmember Pattie Waller, Vice Mayor Gary Ready and Library Director Jossie Maliska.
