PRESS RELEASE - COVID-19 UPDATE

All Village lobbies will be opened to the public by appointment only beginning on Monday, June 8, 2020.
The Village of Palm Springs continues to coordinate with our community partners while closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation for our area. Village staff is continuously assessing and adapting emergency orders for COVID-19 and is implementing various mitigation strategies to continue to slow the possible transmission of this virus throughout our community. As the Palm Beach County and the state of Florida makes a transition into Phase II, the Village has decided to reopen our lobbies by appointment only.
Customers wishing to meet or conduct business in-person with Village staff should contact the specific department via phone and/or email to schedule a convenient appointment time. Please note that the Village strongly recommends all visitors who come in for an in-person appointment to follow current CDC guidelines including social distancing. Customers who are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or who tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of an appointment are asked to reschedule the appointment to a later date to protect Village staff and other customers.
Staff will continue (as we have throughout this pandemic) to be available to conduct business by phone, E-mail and/or other appropriate communication methods to ensure the continued business within our Village.

Adult collections will be available for 20-minute browsing by appointment beginning June 8th. There will be no computers.

The Village of Palm Springs is continuing to coordinate with all of our community partners while closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation for our area. As a result, Village staff is continuously assessing and adapting emergency plans for COVID-19 and is implementing mitigation strategies to slow the transmission of the disease, in particular to protect individuals who have an increased risk for severe illness, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, as well as the healthcare of critical infrastructure workforces.
Village lobbies will continue to be closed until further notice. Below you will find further updates specifically for our Planning, Zoning, and Building Department and Utility Billing Office.
Customers wishing to meet and/or conduct business should contact the specific department within the Village via phone or email. Below is a list of departments and contact information as well as information on services that will be provided during this time.

Effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020, PZB is moving to electronic plan review for minor permits – the process will be finalized this week.
Staff will continue to be available Monday – Friday, from 7:30am to 4:30pm, to provide information and/or answer questions regarding services.
A Pick-Up Box and Drop-Off Box have been provided outside of the PZB door. All submittal paperwork will remain untouched in quarantine for 3 days and will be processed in the order received. Permit and review fees may be paid via telephone with a credit card, or check payment in a sealed envelope.
Permits will be issued by appointment. Permit Cards will be left in the Pick-Up Box for a 3-hour window based on the timeframe scheduled with Village staff. All fees must be paid in full by time of issuance of permit. (Minor permits may be eligible for electronic issuance.)
Our inspections services are as normal. Inspectors are to ask the client if anyone in the home has been sick, ill or not feeling well if the answer to any of these questions are yes, the inspection will be canceled. We ask our clients not schedule an inspection if anyone in the home is sick, ill or not feeling well. We have instructed all staff to follow the CDC guidelines on hand washing and social distancing of 6 feet. If a resident would like to cancel their inspection, they may do so, but will be responsible to reschedule at a later date. We will extend any expired permits for the foreseeable future based on either the inspector or customer not feeling safe about having contact.

In an abundance of caution, effective immediately all special events, performances, programs, classes, athletics, clinics, rentals, camps and non-required/essential meetings have been postponed or canceled through Sunday, March 29th, 2020.
Additionally, the Village Library will be limited to providing only book and video checkout (computer service and all video/technology services will be suspended during this time period). Patrons are encouraged to utilize the E-book opportunities that are available within the Library’s page on the Village’s website – www.vpsfl.org.
